




Kenturah Davis, born in 1980, is a contemporary artist who divides her time between Los Angeles, New Haven, and Accra, Ghana. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Occidental College and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Yale University School of Art. Kenturah Davis's artistic practice delves into the intricate interplay between identity, language, and figurative mark-making. Her creative portfolio spans a diverse range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and performance. Her work has found a place in the collection of the Walker Art Center. In 2020, Davis collaborated with the fashion label Osei Duro, and she was commissioned by the Los Angeles Metro to create large-scale artwork that will be permanently installed at a specific location on the new K Line (Crenshaw/LAX) rail line. In 2021, the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) acquired one of her works, titled "Black As the Most Exquisite Color" (2019), as part of the institution's new acquisitions initiative. Kenturah Davis's artwork joined the PAMM collection alongside pieces from other notable artists like Bisa Butler, Tania Bruguera, and Coco Fusco, among others.In 2022, Kenturah Davis unveiled her portrait of Ava DuVernay at the National Portrait Gallery. This significant achievement marked her contribution to the world of portraiture and artistry.
